Help to decide: Saiga vs GSG-5

I have Saiga .308 and like it, but due to the cost of ammo, I cannot afford to shoot it a lot. Also, due to the weight, benchrest shooting is the main way to go. I was thinking to trade it for GSG-5 to avoid costly ammo, get more trigger time and more versatility. I have limited budget and therefore I can't have both... unfortunately
Do you think this is the way to go or I'll regret it?

Why not pick up a 10/22, marlin 60, or some other affordable .22 rifle? That way you can keep you Saiga and have something to have fun with. I'm not saying you will regret it but you just might.

I want a rifle with a pistol grip. Converting 10/22 with a cool stock is not that cheap.

I hate Saigas. Get rid of it.
        Dear California,
I love you. I was born and raised in you. You have given me some of the best times of my life. Now with that said, I can not wait to move!

hopefully they have it on sale still, go to big 5 and get the marlin 795. i think the $20 rebate is over as it was end of April. But... it's cheap plinking fun! you'll probably have to pay for rings and scope still, which will almost be the cost of the entire rifle. LOL

keep the saiga man! i have the gsg too. it's a fun plinker but it is pretty expensive once you start modding it and optics. i'd say.. marlin 795/cheap plinker and keep the saiga. the only part where the gsg will be better is if you want to shoot off the bench. i mean, you can on the marlin, but just unusual (to me) at the range.

I sold my AK to build my complete Spikes .22lr ST22.

If you can get $1000 for your Saiga I suggest buying a complete Spikes.

Or sell the .308 and get it in 7.62x39. Ammo will be a little cheaper then.

What maximum distance can you shoot with your Spikes?

if they're still in stock, the marlin 795's actually had a price drop to $150, not bad for a fun little gun. you can also find a serviceable scope and rings there for 50-80 bucks.

I agree with the other posters. Got a inexpensive 22lr rifle to go plinking with and keep your Saiga. 10-22 certainly has pistol grip stocks. I think there is a Dragonov stock for the Marlin by ATI.

the more recoil the more enjoyable the firearm imo

I traded my Saiga .308 for a Saiga 7.62x39. I recommend the same for you. Pick up the GSG-5 later.
