    Barrel stuck in 10/22 takedown

My barrel moves about 1/8" of an inch then just gets stuck. Any ideas? I read that some of the earlier ones didn't have the breech heat treated right and the firing pin peens the breech end slightly mushrooming it. It's probably been about 2000 rounds since the last time i removed the barrel.

Trying to avoid having to send it back to Ruger. I bought mine right when it came out, so it's probably a first run batch.

Firing pin on a 10-22 should not hit the barrel. They have a pin in the bolt that acts as a firing pin stop.

Seems to be bolt contact not firing pin.

I'm very interested this slick takedown version of Ruger's venerable 10/22. Cabelas will be selling them for $279.99 on Black Friday this year, in case anyone is interested. But I've been picking up some chatter lately that after even moderate round counts, some users are reporting that the...

This is the 2nd time I've had to return a TD to Ruger. The 1st would not tighten all the way and looked like someone had taken a scotgh bright pad to it. I'm sending in the 2nd one because it won't come apart. Look's like a heat treating problem. The rep at Ruger told me it's the number one...

Volquartsen are laser hardening their 10/22 bolt faces these days. I guess this is why.

So I guess not much I can do with it at this point? Maybe ruger would give me a new barrel. I'd have to take my aftermarket sights/chassis off then. So annoying.

Can you rotate the barrel 360 degrees? It may be possible to chamfer the end of the barrel enough to remove it.

Or let the Ruger folks with all of the fancy tools do it.

Never mind, go with the Ruger factory.

I would bet it's not the firing pin, but the actual BOLT striking the back of the barrel that peens the barrel.
