    Rim fire 22

    I have a ruger 10/22 which I like

I am thinking about another semi auto 22 rifle

What other brand and model of semi auto 22 should I be looking for

For bench shooting from 25 to 50 yards

    I have a budget of 600 tops.

Another 10-22 built differently. If you want to go cheap, find an old Mossberg. They may not look like much but, I have a few bolt action Mossbergs that shoot as well as my Anschutz does. You can find an old Mossberg semi auto for well under $200 without looking too hard. There are many other decent semi auto .22s you can pick up cheap if you look a bit. I just picked up what appears to be a NIB Daisy semi auto .22lr for $125.

All semi-auto 22 rifles are about the same to me, some are box fed, some are tube fed. Most are finicky with ammunition.

Get a bolt action and lever action. More interesting between shots, more reliable too with different types of ammunition.

Something bolt action. I have a Marlin 935 - VERY nice plinker for what you're wanting.

If you want bench rest, get a bolt action, like a CZ or an old Winchester Model 52.

If you want semi auto, get an older Marlin MOdel 60 like the Marlin-Glenfield Model 60 with the squirrel stock.

For $600 you can get the S&W 15-22 and the Marlin 60. I have multiples of both and they are both awesome plinkers.

+1 for the Marlin 60. I have the 50th Anniversary Edition and it shoots great. Very Reliable and not picky about ammo.

Bolt actions are generally more accurate than semis. You may not be able to spray as much lead but they make smaller holes.

That's what I did. Great rifle that is super accurate too.

Browning Buckmark target barrel rifle is right at $600. Then you could get their pistol that uses same magazines and have a very nice semi-auto set with factory optics rails.
