Sanity Check: P22

Have had mine for around 3-4 years. Mine did not say CA on the slide like I see many others. I have the OD green one. No issues once I found that it like the Remington Golden Bullets and of course Mini mags. I just quickly clean it before I go and can shoot all day with no hiccups. -
Get an Advantage Arms 19-23 conversion kit. If you can locate one.

Sanity check:
Why are you hooked on the P22?
Rent one first if possible?
Buy it, if she does not like it, sell it.
Buckmark is on roster, is pretty reliable and mostly well-regarded here.
Ruger SR-22, Ruger Mark or M&P 22 not on roster.Originally posted by Kestryll:

It’s the ONLY gun I ever got rid of. Let that sink in for a moment.Comment

Much better option. No more money going to CA for another dros either.Get an Advantage Arms 19-23 conversion kit. If you can locate one.

My p22 is banished to the dark depths of my safe - even though i have a pre CA model, it still has issues. It preferred Federal auto match over anything. Mine has the laser addon, the removal tabs have failed and its stuck on the pistol.Comment

Another option
The Slide Pull Charging Handle is designed to make it much easier to pull back the slide, perfect for older shooters, or those with weaker hand strength and/or medical conditions, available through GlockStore.com

My friend used them for beginner handgun classes. He said they were too unreliable to use for teaching.
The Ruger MK 2, 3, or 4 is the way to go.Biden's

I'd suggest Buckmark over P22. 3 1/2 " barrel on P22 gives not much sight radius.Comment

I went through a lot of trial and error for my wife. Including a P22. Got a Ruger SR22P, she never touched the P22 again. Also loves her Sig P238.
They both check the easy to rack box, and the reliable box....
Unfortunately, a SR22P is off roster and when they show up used, run around $500-600 unless you get really lucky. It's a shame it went off roster, but it did. Sig P238 goes on sale at Turners regularly, probably around $550-ish for the 2 tone version last I heard. Used is about the same price, again, unless you get lucky in the marketplace.
Sorry about the busting the budget thing, all I can say is that both the SR22P and the Sig P238 are in the permanent collection (spend once, cry once, smile "ever after"), and IMO worth the money spent - I could have saved a lot on guns that didn't work out for her had I known to get these two.... and yes, I ended up with more than one of each, as I found both to be very good guns I enjoy shooting. Of course, everyone is different, but I say my wife has good taste and instincts!Comment

So I just bought a new CA P22 for my daughter's birthday. Took it to the range with CCI minimags which should work good since everyone says that's the ammo to use. Shot 250 rounds and out of the 25 magazines only 2 fired all 10 rounds. Had failure to eject over and over.
Sent it back to Walthers and still waiting for it to come back. It does have a lifetime warranty which the P22 mods will void. I have been told the new ones should be very reliable but unfortunately, that was not my experience.
