savage mkII with thumbhole stock

hello all I keep seeing this savage MKII with thumbhole stock specifically the Mako II anyone have any experience with accuracy on these?

I've pestered AR15Barrels about what a simple precision .22lr set up would be based on what he's seen at the matches he has attended and he said:

EGW 20moa base.
Good quality rings of your choice.
Bushnell Elite 3200 or Nikon Buckmaster 4-14 mil-dot.
Build on the savage Mk II with thumbhole stock.

I hadn't seen the Mako stock before, I'm saving for a plain Jane MkII-BTVS. After a little internet reading there doesn't seem to be anything fundamentally unsound about the Mako.

I have a couple of Sav MKII's and shoot them a lot. They are good enough that if you don't use good ammo, the ammo will probably limit your group.
The CMP sells the synthetic stock one as an affordable youth club gun, they would not recommend them to clubs if the MKII wasn't good. The Mako gives a better cheek weld with the scope and will shoot 1 MOA at 100 yards with Lapua ammo. I've shot 390-15x in a 40 shot, 100 yd prone match using a sling (not bench or bipod) The MKII T shoots 1 MOA at 50 yards with Wolf match ammo. I wish I had the accutrigger on my Sav mod 10 .308 but I bought it before they offered it, so I put a Timney trigger in the mod 10. I did swap out the Lyman front sight on the Target model with a Thompkins to get the bubble level and threaded tube for the diopter lens addition that my old eyes need.

I think the difference is if you are playing the .22lr game vs centerfire precision game.

i want to play the .22lr accuracy game.. not in compitition or anything just for fun

0.5 inch accuracy at 50 yards very very consistent and flat shooting. I have shot a buddy's in stock form and literally couldn't believe how accurate it was out of the box. The triggers are great also, very smooth and crisp break. Look at it this way you can put a bunch of money into a 10/22 to make it as accurate as the savage straight from the box. But you will spend twice as much getting there, and I really like the thumb hole stock that is on there already.

FYI the accuracy game is going to require good ammo. The accurate stuff is all subsonic. I think current prices for better ammo are Lapua Master $6/box50 Wolf Target $6 Wolf Match $8

You can't get groups like this with bulk box ammo or minimags (no matter how good a gun) Indoors with no wind helps too.
