Marlin 39 Century CL

Picked up this little jewel yesterday on my local Armslist. It is in near new condition and I cannot even tell for sure if it has ever been fired. Kid said his Dad bought it new and he himself never fired it. Does not know if his Dad ever did.

These if you are unfamiliar with them they were made in 1970 only to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Company. Seems they made around 34,000 of them My serial number is in the 5000 range.. Has a nice Skinner Gold Peep sight. Sorry the front sight kinda got chopped off in the Photo.

Oh yeah. I will be shooting it for certain. This weekend for sure the first time. But it will be well cared for also. Then it will be used by my Grandkids in a few years. Will be fun to run some CCI CB Caps through it too.

I have a Love Affair with pretty much all pre Remlin Marlins. Especially Lever Guns and semi autos. Never got into Bolt Action Marlins much at all. The Goldens are very nice Rifles too.

Fan of JM Marlins too. .357, .45 Colt limited (16"), 45-70G.

Been looking for a 20" round barrel 45 Colt. The 16" doesn't balance too well.

That is a rare model 39 with the longer octagon barrel but straight grip and crescent butt. Nice score. Do shoot it with some good subsonic ammo and post the groups. My 39 octagon has excellent trigger and accuracy - still after thousands of rounds fired.

I just picked up a 1893 Marlin Lever in 38-55 a couple days ago. Made in 1895. Kinda a project and not a high dollar collectible for sure. Only paid 300.00 locally, so hopefully it can be a good shooter grade. Gonna post it and a photo over on the CR section here.

Here are a couple pics that show the Beautiful grain in my CL stock. I nor anyone else on any of the Marlin Forums has ever seen one with this nice of wood..Kinda like 1-500 wood...The sunlight photo does not show its real Beauty as much.

AR22, that is a beauty! Had not seen one of those before. The 39's are shooters to be sure. I have a '57 with some really nice fiddleback grain in the stock.
Enjoy that 39. One of, if not, the best .22 lever rifles made. Excellent score.
