    Couple new Marlins

Picked these two Beauty up at the Local Show this weekend. One is a brand new in the box Dec. 67 989M2. Has original box, small Manual and the spare mag too. Real time capsule. Amazing it was never fried since new in 1967.

Other one is a Marlin 922M semi auto. What a sweet and accurate Rifle. It was made in 1995. Had a 989M2 already. But had to have the new in the box one too. 922M is one that has been on my list for quite a few years now..If you are unfamiliar with the 922. It is Chambered in 22 Magnum of course.

Kinda overextended my Budget so may have to part with the 989M2. But hoping not to..

The 989M2 even looks like it still has the hard to find rear sight. Good pick-up OP!!

Yes it does have the rear sight. I am sure the sight was never even as much as touched since new. I have a 99M1 that does not have the rear sight. My new 989M2 is just as the day it was bought in 1967 and it was just stored away.

I would like to find a rear sight for the 99M1. But they are getting harder to find and too pricey for me now.

I had to pay a pretty penny for the 989M2. But probably will never encounter another new in the box one in my Life.. But to make up for that, I pretty much stole the 922M. So it evens out I guess. I did have to order a new front sight hood for the 922M. It was missing. Also bought a new Black Jack Buffer for the 922M.
        Thanks

I'm not a big fan of magazines for 22LR, that said, those are beautiful guns. I'd make an exception for those two..

          Thanks for sharing

            Thanks

Whats wrong with you,LOL Not a Big Fan of .22 rimfires. I thought we all loved Rimfires.

My buffer for the 922M should be here tomorrow and maybe the front sight hood too. As suspected with all the Marlin Semi Autos I have owned. The buffer was crumbled when I took it apart today.

Anytime you buy a semi auto Marlin. Order a new Buffer right away. I have only seen one or two good buffers in all the Marlin 22s I have ever owned. They just crumble with age regardless if they were shot much or not. I guess plastic tech was not too advanced yet..But the new rubber Black Jack ones will last a lifetime.

              .
not a fan of 22 LR rifles with detachable mags, I do have a Browning Buck Mark that I do like and a 10/22 that I never shoot, plus 6 other 22 rimfire carbines and rifles. Just not liking the mags..old hands, old sore fingers don't like them. Plus 12k-15k rounds for the grandkids to enjoy when their old enough.

              Oh yeah! there's a couple 22LR, L, S revolvers in there somewhere...

I just bought a rear sight for one of my M1s that is missing. Had to pay 85 bucks shipped. But as you said they are to find for sure.

I have a Glenfield version of the 989 but with the tubular magazine - it has a regular rear sight and no handguard on top of the barrel. It was my deceased ex-father-in-law's rifle. It will go to my oldest daughter soon. It is a nice little rifle and lighter than a 1022.

The 989 was made from 1962-1966.

The 989-M2 was made from 1966-1979 and the action was upgraded to resolve certain minor headaches that appeared
in the previous design, along with a more M-1-like stock.

If I remove my Hand guard on my early 989M2. The slot is actually cut in the top of the barrel for the standard barrel mounted rear sight dovetail. But the dovetail cut is of course hidden when the top hand guard is mounted.
