At the most, you might have to do a little adjusting for fit on some aftermarket stocks or other minor things. The old metal trigger groups are pretty much interchangeable with the new polymer ones. Tool wise, if you have some small files and some sandpaper it can come in handy in addition to the screwdriver and/or hex wrenches. Not brain surgery, be patient and if something doesn't quite fit, take the time to figure it out and adjust if needed, usually the aftermarket part!

It's easy to smooth out the Brownells - run it for a while, or if you want it to feel smoother, a bit of 1000 grit sandpaper to smooth the finish inside the receiver (not so much as to take any metal off). I did mine when I was doing other changes so it was apart already - big difference in feel. The other tricky thing is the bolt has to either be dropped in almost "square" (stock can be dropped in breechface first and rotated down - easier to capture the charging handle), or you can shave a tiny bit off the guide rail so the bolt drops in easier (or will rotate in).

Rimfire Central was suggested to me on a Razor Magnum 80% build, and I took the time to read all the related posts, mostly about how the builds didn't work.... Mine runs flawlessly, so maybe I learned where many of the pitfalls were - .22wmr IS a bit trickier to get running. A 10/22 is pretty easy to get right if you are using a factory or aftermarket receiver.

I'm no "expert" (I've done close to a dozen builds, it's addictive), but I can probably answer most questions if you hit a snag, and there are others who have posted multiple builds, so you'll probably get pretty solid advice here!

FWIW here is my recipe:

Titan Stock
Ruger receiver
Kidd Bolt and Handle
Kidd 20 Stainless BBL
BX Trigger with bobbie pin mod - If you get a BX trigger, make sure you buy it at a store where you can try it out - they vary wildly in quality. Eventually I want to get a Kidd trigger as well however. I tried the Brimstone job on the original factory trigger and the BX is better by a mile.

Bedded the stock and did barrel pressure pad

Three of my builds are 80% elites with rail, I like 'em. Made a good project to teach the kiddos the basics of machining without being too hard - the barrel hole being the only really tricky part.

If you're doing just one, probably better to FFL the bare completed receiver (already should have a serial #, so no hassles with that issue).

Well I dont want to sell the old one I have as it was my father's first rifle... but I think I am just gonna order 2 elite 22 receivers and see what I can come up with.. I have built a few ar's so would be fun to build one of these and have my son pick out some parts and see what he can come up with

I concur totally. Get another and brutalize that one. Preserve the old one or sell to me!!!
