Anyone else giving a 22lr for Christmas?

Yeah, bought a bunch for myself...I mean for my offspring to inherit when they're old enough. -
My 9 year old daughter already has a child's pink stocked Mossberg Plinkster.
I should put something under the tree for my 10 year old son! By his age, I had a Winchester 94 30 30 made on my birth year 1951Comment

Yup, got a stripped reciever for cheap. Had a stock and barrel already. Finished building a 10/22 for my youngest.
It was such a good price I built another one (had a second barrel and stock laying around). Now we have three.Comment

I'm not giving .22s this year but this brings back great memories for me.
In the summer of 1962 our family moved back from Japan to the California Santa Clara Valley (uninorporated Cupertino area). I was 13, my brother was 11. Under the Christmas tree were two small boxes with mine and my brother's name on them. It turned out these were boxes of .22 shells since my Dad had ordered our rifles but they had not arrived yet (Marlin 80DL bolt action repeaters). Talk about excited! They came in a few days later and the rest is history.
I gave mine to my younger son a few years ago and he cherishes it knowing the history. I have given rifles, shotguns and handguns to my three adult children but generally on their birthdays.
It's all good!

For my December birthday, I gave myself a Smith & Wesson Model 48 with a six inch barrel.
For Christmas, my wife gave me a $100 bill to underwrite my quest for .22 WMR ammunition.Freedom is the dream you dream while putting thought in chains.
