I have an x-ring backpacker, which is awesome in its own right. Super lightweight and compact, and I love the flexibility to use iron sights or glass. With that said, it isn't the right tool for small steel varmint targets at 200 yards (local competition). The aluminum barrel heats up and cools down pretty fast, and that's been leading to point of impact shift of 1-1.5 mils. Perhaps that's ammo (CCI Mini mag) temperature sensitivity?
Anyway, my partner asked what I wanted for Christmas and I asked for a bead blasted 16.5" black Kidd match barrel, which I'll put on the "spare" 10/22 (her late father's, was in an archangel stock, which she never liked, and said I can have). I have yet to get a new stock for it, but I'm really excited!

I did quite a bit of research before settling on this barrel, and everyone has an opinion, but I couldn't find anything bad about Kidd.
Borrowed screenshots from their website. I'll update as the build progresses.
