    Iver Johnson TP22 Pistol

I saw one for sale and was wondering if they are junk? PPK copy for 200.

I've messed with them and they weren't all that great. Also magazines are hard to find.

Good friend owned one. Shooting at an indoor range, the slide came off and went down range. Landed on the muzzle end and peened the opening hard enough to prevent reassembly. Had a gunsmith fix and check it. Then sold it.

They can be fun little handguns but often are picky about ammo. Mine prefers HV and works best with stingers.

They are a REALLY cheap attempt to copy the real Walther PP style little pistols, but without the quality---honestly, QC is a crapshoot---some worked---many didn't! Magazines are near impossible to buy---personally, I would pass...

Your "good friend" needs to familiarize himself with a firearm before he does something dumb.

He obviously pulled down on the front of trigger guard during firing. Likely a 2 handed death grip tactical hold, with off hand index finger in front of TG.

Take down, is initiated by "pulling down" the front of the trigger guard on the TP22.

Other than a tad picky about ammo [what 22 pocket popper isn't] no problems. Since buying used in a Vegas pawn shop in early 80's.

I have the IJ and two TPHs. They are very similar. The IJ slide isn’t so prone to bite you as the Walther is.

Definitely possible. I didn't know that's how they take down. Makes sense.
