    10/22 magnum....

Anyone have any experience with the Select Fire 80% receiver? I stumbled onto one, and am thinking of finishing it off for .22WMR. I know some of these were finished off for .17hmr, but I'm not too interested in that caliber since it seems to be rather less common. Barrel hole was drilled slightly off, but is undersize enough to be correctable with some careful and creative machining (and the Pike arms jig I have from building a 10/22). It came with the jig for the other holes, so no problems there.

I gather that there's a bit of "fine tuning" involved with a .22wmr rifle, and Ruger wasn't able to make their version reliable (i.e. not experience bolt failure), but this seems like a "fun project". Just looking for any input from anyone that has built one of these!

If the only issue is the barrel hole, contact Randy at CPC in Connecticut, he can machine it true and install a bushing. He's an excellent firearms machinist.
There have been posts of several successful builds on Rim Fire Central.

I'll keep that in mind, it's only off by about .003, and the hole is undersized, so with careful jigging, I should be able to clean and true it up. If not, I was thinking the bushing route as well.

I ran across rimfrire central in my preliminary searches, have it marked for further perusal! Seemed like the majority of .22 Magnum posts on the web were there.

These magnum platforms seem to be a bit rare, but the 22wmr looks to be pretty potent for a rimfire round, and worth fiddling with a bit!

17hmr is far from scarce. I'd be very interested in doing one in 17, not as much in 22.

I say go for it! Fun project, and sounds like it won't cost you anything but time if it doesn't work out, and you'll learn a bunch in the process!

The issue with .17 and the 10-22 platform is Out of Battery discharges. .17's The chamber needs to be kept scrupulously clean.

SO, anyone have any ideas for a light weight .22wmr barrel? Still have to figure out which stock to put this thing in as well...

Not a lot of options for parts... I'm spoiled by all the crazy stuff you can get to customize a "stock" 10/22!

I'm actually digging through RFC a few pages at a time, trying to pick up bits and pieces of info as I go.

Thought about signing up, but it didn't like any possible ID's I tried, and seemed to be overly concerned about whether I was a bot or not... I might try again, or just continue to browse!

I'm researching, but seems like not a lot of people have one of these beasts, I've heard back from the guy who makes the parts, and he's helpful.

It's the parts options that are rather sparse, and finding info or reviews (other than buried in dusty old RFC threads!) is a little iffy. Part of me begins to wonder if I'm crazy for trying to build this thing up, but so far, so good, so I guess I'll finish it up!

I'm actually not TOO worried about how the thing will run when I finally figure out the barrel question, everything seems to fit quite well and dry cycle smoothly and I've had experience with finicky rimfire pistols that should help if need be! Just got to "pull the trigger" on a stock and find a barrel!
