    Looking for 22lr rifle --

Okay, I'm looking for recommendations. I want (almost need) a 22lr rifle. I don't want a semi auto (don't like messing w/ mags), I shoot lefty so a bolt gun may be an issue, I want ultra reliability & accuracy & (this is a biggy) -- don't want to break the bank - ideally $350-ish - max but will listen if there's something out there that fits my needs and is not much more.
    TIA

    Ruger 10/22
    Marlin 60
    Marlin 795
    Henry lever action (various models)

or if you already own an AR type rifle, add a CMMG bolt & magazine lit ($200)

This fits your description. Although the mags are the markII's weakest point.

Okay -- so lever action -- seems like a nice rifle, but a bit pricey. the others are semis that I'm not really interested in....

This may be a bit more than you are willing to spend...

but CZ makes the 452 American in a true Left Handed model. MSRP is about $500.00 Davidson's has two in stock. About $450+DROS and tax.

If accuracy and quality are what you are after, the CZs are hard to beat for the price. 5 and 10 shot mags are available along with a single shot mag for training kids.

how are the cz mags? in my experience, the mags tend to be a weak point in most 22's

The mags are really quite good. CZ makes both steel and poly mags. Extras are available from Midway. I've never had any feeding problems with mine. Remember this is a bolt gun, so mag problems are not the same as with a semi-auto, if you work the bolt correcty. Shoots a 3/8" group @ 50 yds with a 6X scope and SK Standard plus ammo.

                  This should fit the bill:

Semi Auto (but no magazines - tube fed in the stock)

                  Well under $350

The gunblast guys seemed to love it:

10/22 and IF you shoot SLOW it is like a bolt action!! (well maybe not) but I think it is the BEST .22LR rifle out for the last few years (ok more than a few yrs)

Get a CZ, and be amazed with the accuracy. Mine loves Power Points, Americam Eagle HP`s, and I have plenty of Wolf Match Target for braggin rights.

The CZ is a very good bolt action .22lr. I am left handed, and have used for over 40 years a Marlin Golden 39A lever. It is a very well built rifle, is very accurate, and uses a 19 round tube feed magazine. It is worth a look.

As for semi-auto, the Marlin Model 60 does not use a magazine, but has a 14 round tubular feed magazine. These can be found at very good pricing at Big 5, I think they are not on sale this week, but just about every other week they are. I gave one to my wife, and believe me, I do not want to be messing with her rifle every 5 min., and the way she goes through .22 ammo, I know it doesn't have feed or jam problems. Her Model 60 feeds the cheapo (well, I guess cheap isn't a good word even for .22lr these days, make that questionable quality) Remington Golden Bullet bulk pack stuff all day long with no problems. She puts several thousand rounds through it without cleaning, just a shot of CLP from time to time.

Get a Henry, preferably a H001T-- beautiful gun, great quality and service, American-made.

Well if you have to go with a .22lr, marlins are good but rugers are better to ME plus they have the best warranty..... But ever think about a .17HMR????
