    First 22 rifle decision...????

    Browning grade 1 vs Taurus 63 vs 10/22

    I'm going to be purchasing my first 22 rifle very soon and was wondering if money isn't a concern, which out of the three would you rather have and why? Ive shot all 3 and really liked them all but slightly favor the browning. Thanks.

            Can't go wrong with the 10/22
            God, grant me the serenity

            The courage to change the things I can;
            And the wisdom to know the difference.

                      1022 brotha. Later on when you wanna do a lil modding this gun is a monster. You name it and you can do it with this gun. Just a work horse of a firearm.

                        What's your intended purpose? Plinking, varminting, or competition?

                        I just wnet through the same decision process - I already had a couple old Remington and Marlin .22's, and wanted something much more accurate to use occasionally in small caliber competition and practice (much cheaper to shoot these days!).

                        I initially bought a 10/22 and enjoyed shooting it very much, but after some research into the cost to have it upgraded and accurized for comp use, it was clear I could buy a better baseline to build on. There are a number of excellent 'factory' guns in a mid-cost range (for under $500, look into the CZ 452 American or Ruger 77/22) all the way up to some very nice customs and factory guns (various models by Anschutz, Kimber, Cooper, Sako, etc) up to $2K.

                        I found a Clark custom 77/22, complete w/ Nikon optics, bipod, sling, etc recently for $800, and it appears to be an excellent choice for under $1K. I pick it up in a week. I'll soon see if it is as good as represented!

                        Also check out rimfirecentral.com for more focused .17 and .22 gun info and knowledge base.

                        Good luck in your search -
