    Share a scope between 10/22 and a S&W 617?

I just ordered the Weaver scope mount for K-frames and it attaches with ease to my 6" 617. So... time to go scope shopping for my first scope ever.

I don't know anything about scopes so my hunting around has been kind of like stumbling in the dark. So I don't know how reasonable this is - would it be possible to find a decent scope that would work acceptably on both my 617 and 10/22?

I don't plan to use the same scope long term, swapping back and forth or anything. But as long as I'm dropping $100+ on a toy I'm a complete virgin with I figure I may as well get something flexible enough to try on both revolver and rifle. If at all possible, that is.
Rule #3 - Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.

Tough to do with a tube scope because of the difference in eye relief between scopes designed for long or hand guns. It can be done with a scout scope type set up on the rifle. Have you thought about a panoramic red dot sight? I swap an UltraDot Pan-A-V with good results on a 10/22 and MK II.
