The manual for my rifle says to dryfire before storage but also says dryfiring may damage the rifle. I asked the mfr and they saisd not to dryfire often.

Decocking and storing with a snapcap?

Can you post a picture of some snap caps made to look like real cartridges? To the best of my knowledge, they intentionally make snap caps NOT look like real cartridges in an effort to promote safety.Anchors Aweigh

Those snap caps would only alarm the type of people who think ear plugs are rubber bullets. And most of those people work for CNN.
I doubt any real police officers would be confused by your snap caps.Last edited by Mayor McRifle; 11-22-2019, 9:18 PM.Anchors Aweigh

I used #4 plastic wall anchor from Home Depot (I am cheap).

Decock by pulling the trigger as the bolt is closed. That's how I do it on my Norinco JW15 and US Springfield M1922M1. Also, nothing is left in the chamber as that closes-off any and all air flow thru the barrel. If there's ANY moisture under that snap cap, the chamber could become pitted and then extraction will be jeopardized.
