Recommend me a scope for A17

So I just ordered the savage A17 with heavy barrel and need advice for scope. I would like a first focal plane and/or a scope set up for 17hmr. What are your thoughts on FFP on a rim fire? Is it better to just get the bsa sweet 17?

I think I caught the rim fir bug for right now. This will be my 3rd rim fire in a row. First the Kel Tec pmr , then the CMR, now the A17

I just replaced my "sweet 223" BSA with a Vortex Crossfire. Much improved. That 4-16x40 model also has a variable parallax.

I have one of these on my A17. easy to setup a ballistic cheat sheet on the scope cap. I like it a lot.

On my Winchester, I put on a Redfield Revolution. I got it used for less than a BSA or Nikon. Look around, but I went from a UTG craptacular scope (actually not that bad) to quality glass and now I understand the difference, and my scope is only considered midgrade.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread. I have a Leopold 3-9 vx-Freedom Rimfire on my new .22 mag, a CZ 455 Varmint. Yeah, not a 17hmr, but the scope should also work for you; its nice and clear, plus it has a MOA reticle for hold over shots.

The cool thing to me is that they have a illuminated reticle calibrated to the 17hmr.


They also have one of these with a .22mag reticle (and .22 lr subsonic, std velocity, and high velocity). I'm thinking about getting that for the new rifle, and remounting the Leopold back onto the 10-22

I like Hawke scopes. They aren't very well known, but every one that I've seen have been a great value for the price. Lifetime warranty, IMHO the optics are better than similarly priced Bushnells, Vortexes, and Nikons, plus they're tough, designed for springer air rifles. A older Vantage 2-7 lives on our barrel-cocking air rifle.

(sorry, I tend to go overboard when I find a new useful toy)
