    My first handgun

I'm thinking about adding a handgun to my collection and I know I want something in a 22lr.

After reading some articles and reviews, I'm leaning towards a Beretta 87 Target.

Any advice on other handguns I should consider? I basically want something I can learn and practice on.

S&W 617. Nothing teaches better shooting and trigger control than a revolver.

The Heritage Rough Rider's are under $200, and come with 2 cylinder's, one in 22LR, and one in 22 Magnum. Great deal

I personally like the Buckmark. It may be a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Plus, there is just about any aftermarket hop up you can think of for them.

Rent them all, but can't go wrong with a buckmark.

              Vanity vs. Functionality

I know this is aesthetics rather than functionality/practicality but doesn't the Ruger Mark series look like ray guns from the 50s?

I know it doesn't matter how it looks as long as it shoots straight and functions flawlessly but . . .

This is the first I've heard that a revolver teaches better shooting or trigger control. Would you expand on this? I'm definitely interested in hearing why a revolver does this (as opposed to a semi-auto).

You can shoot it in double action, which will help you train to not twitch your hands in anyway. Once you master the double action without having your front sight move because you're either flinching or applying pressure in the wrong part of your grip, then you are golden and ready to progress into higher calibers.

                    Your kidding right
MKIII doesn't look anything like that, they resemble the German Luger.
If any of the .22 Pistols look like a raygun, it would be the Beretta Neos, especially the Colorful ones.

Another vote for the Ruger Mark series of pistols. I live my Mark III.
