    RUGER 10/22 CONVERSION .17

Has anyone converted theirs yet? Where can I buy the parts I need? Cost?

I was also looking at buying a barrel and stock for my other ruger 10/22 and was wondering where is the cheapest place that you guys know about..Talking about the .920 one and keep it in .22

If I remember correctly, I changed out the the standard 10/22 bolt handle for a 10/22 magnum one, added a 17M2 Green Mtn. barrel and just checked to make sure the empties were only flying about 6-7 feet.

(The distance the empty brass falls is a rough gauge of the pressure curve occuring in your individual set up. If it is more than 6-7 feet, you may need to add more weight to the bolt set up, thereby slowing the bolt and allowing the chamber pressure to drop before extraction/ejection occurs).

    Change buffers regularly.

If you want to convert a standard 10/22 to 17HMR it would take more work. I know it has been done, but it is beyond my level of competence. Usually the 17HMR is on the 10/22 magnum action.

I think ADCO/Brown has the heavy bolt handles.

I picked up a GM barrel, then a charging handle from Rimfire Technologies and
a little ammo here and their for under $4 a box shipped. The stock required a
little sanding for the barrel to float but not much.
