CCI Patriot Pack

Happy President's Day! By coincidence, my 3k round order of CCI 40 grain polymer-coated 22lr ammo arrived at my ammo transfer dealer today. By the way, it was 2A Zone in Rancho Cucamonga. They texted me to let me know they had received it (ordered from targetsportsusa) and set up time for me to come pick it up. The whole process was very simple and easy and they did not charge me anything other than the required sales tax. Yes, I bought other stuff from them while I was there, but it is not required. Very professional and I highly recommend them.

Anyways, I have never used this "Patriot Pack" ammo, or any poly-coated rimfire ammo before. It's supposed to be cleaner and work well for semi-autos. My Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 795 both run great until they get dirty so I usually try to clean them after 500 rounds or so. At that point they still function pretty good but the actions are filthy and it takes more effort to clean them out. So hopefully the Patriot Pack ammo will ease some of that cleaning effort.

BTW the "Patriot Pack" name is just a marketing gimmick. They can poly-coat the bullets any color they want (I think they did green and red for Christmas) and they choose red, white, and blue as standard. I don't care as long as it works as advertised. I plan to test it this weekend.

Anyone try the Patriot Pack ammo? How did it do in terms of accuracy, reliability, and cleanliness?

I’ve shot a couple of boxes of it, so far has functioned great in my Buckmark, Mark II, SR22, 617, LCRx, 795 and Henry with decent accuracy. I wouldn’t go to any length looking for it. But would buy if on sale again.

My sterling 302 needs sharper cases where the primer is crimped in. If the case has too rounded of edges the ejector won’t grab it well enough to eject. Some .22LR ammo has this issue.

Update: 300 rounds thru my Marlin 795 today and no problems at all. 300 rounds thru the Ruger 10/22 and I had two failures to feed. The Marlin has always been more reliable than the Ruger for me. Still, the 10/22 worked 99% of the time with the CCI Patriot ammo and that ain't bad. Seems to not get the guns dirty as fast either, although I have no real way to measure that.

Conclusion: it's good stuff and I'll buy more of it.
