Cmmg or PSA 22lr conversion

I'm looking to build or buy a 22lr AR upper. I wanted some recommendations on either doing the Cmmg .22 barrel/BCG and building an upper or buying a PSA complete upper.
How good is the PSA stuff vs Cmmg? Is the BCG the same or a close copy?
The barrel on the PSA is a thin profile and the Cmmg is a M4 profile. Do you think the Cmmg would be the better of the two? I'm not looking for match accuracy but the best bang for my buck.

I'm happy with my dedicated PSA 22 cal upper. More expensive than the conversion option but they work really well and make a nice topper for any extra complete lowers you might have laying around. Add a Boonie Packer adapter and S&W M&P 15-22 mags and you get AR feel, features and weight, last shot bolt hold open, proper 22 cal barrel twist and no issues with fouling tubes, etc

I bought the PSA like above (albeit with the 13.5" handguard) for the same price and its a good running gun. I bought some 10rd Black Dog Machine mags for it pretty cheaply and they work great as well. My 5 year old loves it, my 9 year old still prefers a 10/22 or the old bolt action.

I like it, no regrets. I prefer having the dedicated upper because I don't want to be potentially harrassed over the centerfire/rimfire existensial duality, lol.

I've got the CMMG conversion bolt and I've experienced quite a few stovepipes. Still plenty of fun and works well though.

If I get a dedicated lower for the PSA upper, can I run it with a standard mag release? The lower would be capable of working for other calibers, but if it's in a rimfire configuration is it totally legal?
