    Suggestions on bolt action .22lr

I have been wanting a good quality 22 rifle for a long time. I have considered the Volquartsen's and the Magnum Researchs but I think I want to stick with a bolt action for now.

I am thinking; Ruger M77 22, Kimber or Cooper. The Kimber and the Cooper are pretty steep in the price for me. I think the Ruger all in, scope, rings, extra mags could be had for just the rifle price of the others. I already own an M77 in .270.

Not really interested in the CZ or the Anshultz. Must admit I was tempted by the Savage.

    Anybody own an M77 22?

Anything else I should be thinking of or taking into condsideration?

This will reallu be a range rifle with the occasional trip to the orchard.

    thanks
    Peter

I almost bought one of the savage bolt actions. Reasonably priced and good reviews too. Although I have not shot one personally. Very nice in person.

Savage Arms has been building firearms since 1894. Our rifles, shotguns and handguns are accurate, dependable and loaded with innovations for high performance.

I wanted a Savage MKII but had a hard time finding one. I ended up getting a Remington Model 5... I love it... Good luck...

Just curious, what were the deal-killers for you on those? I've heard they are very accurate.

Best bolt action .22? CZ452, especially for the price!

+1 on CZ452. Have the scout version and a cheap nikon x4 scope. It's an amazing tack driver shooting wolf target ammo.

I'm curious as well as to why CZ isn't on the list. I've been hearing great things about their rimfires.

I own 2 CZs, one in .22 and one .17 HMR. Would never sell them.

                      Reconsider?

Well maybe I should reconsider the CZ. I shot a Anshultz a great deal years back and for whatever reason I never reallu took to it. Good gun, just wouldnt feel compelled to buy one. I will take another look at the CZ. never shot one.
It all started with really wanting a Kimber Super America. An heirloom sort of piece. But at $1500 plus I was trying to find something less $$$.

Maybe I should just get the savage and a magnum research....

I don't have a bolt action 22LR. I have a BLR 22 which is an excellent rifle. I also have a Ruger 77/17 in 17 HMR. I love this caliber.

A CZ is a fantastic rifle. I love my 452, and will not ever be selling it. The feel, accuracy, and quality is light years ahead of Savage, Marlin and Ruger.

The CZ452 is a nice gun, accurate and one of the best looking of the 22s (except for the plain trigger guard)

Ruger 77/22 also nice looking, the triggers suck but the rest of it is nice.

Savages have poorer fit and finish but their barrels and tiggers are very nice.

Anshutz makes about 20 different models of rimfires so don't let one rifle decide it for you. Legendary accuracy and they usually have great adjustable triggers.
