.22 ammo support group thread

Having a hard time getting some CCI Blazer for my Dedi AR 22 I still have 850 rounds left which is not a whole lot considering I like to shoot 500-1000 a session. I have to stop giving away my ammo when I let others use my AR

.45 is impossible in Socal. I checked 4 Walmarts in the San Diego area last week and not one had any .45 or 9mm.

So Cal Guns in San Diego had about 200+ boxes of .45 for $23.50 last week, which is better than some of the gougers in the Marketplace.

I found 2 50rd boxes of remington umc .45 at the city of industry walmart a couple weeks ago, left one for another fortunate soul... i was looking for .22.

It's not walmart pricing, and it requires paying shipping... but Midway has Federal 550 Packs for ~$20. I guess an upside is no sales tax. Limit of one box per order - probably why it's still available.

I was able to throw one into an order I've been meaning to place, but I probably wouldn't place an order for JUST this.

Is Rimfire harder to get than 45 acp or 40 cal (Be honest)

It all depends on what you want? I have seen more .40 & 22 rimfire than 45. But I have seen Wolf 45 for $20 a box at Turners as well as Winny 333 packs for $15.99 there too. But I think right now, quality 45 ACP is harder to come by.

What time do they usually put em out? Dude from the Santee store said the best time to get them was 7am?

I actually managed to find 4400 rounds (8 boxes) at walmart last night !! It was amazing. Also found 10 boxes of 100 packs of .40, which made me smile. But the .22 was nice. Can't beat the $15 a box, I just got a case a few weeks ago for $225 shipped from gunbroker, ugh.

I picked up two 550 bulk packs from the san diego aero walmart store tonight at around 9 pm. I left two packs for my fellow calgunners, the clerk was surprised when i said I didnt want the remaining two boxes. but hey, Ive been there many times when there's been nothing, just happy to be seeing 22LR again. I did pay $29 when I just had to have some from a local gun shop.

Case (5,000 rounds) of Centurion .22lr (by Aguila) for $210 shipped. I've never shot it, but the few reviews I managed to find pretty much all agreed that it's solid stuff so I thought I'd take the plunge and give it a try.

There are other places that have some in stock, but I don't really want to spend $10 shipping on a $30 brick.

I just found some bricks of this Centurion today, and it was local. The dealer said that it was supposed to be very impressive. I passed on it, but it was $27 a brick.

Anyone remember what a brick of federal or the equivalent, was going for at the last Crossroads show?

That's the problem,"when they have them" and it is not too often based on what I see and read in these forums. If AB 962 passes, those $15.00 bricks will be just a campfire memory anyway.

Oh, no, I totally understand the concept of inflation, as well as the law of supply/demand; however, I also know that WalMart is still selling these bulks for about $15 when they have them. Just because I can't find them doesn't mean that $25+ is suddenly a "deal" for what is still, last time I checked, $15 ammo. Like I said, it may be stupid, but I'd rather pay "normal" retail than "gouged" retail even if "normal" is a buck or 2 more (obviously for different ammo). In any case, what I'm fairly happy with how much I paid for what I'm getting. Assuming I like what I'm getting in the first place on a non-price-related scale.

I should mention that I believe, a bit, in leaving some for the next guy. If I found 6 boxes at WalMart, I'd take all 6, but if there's a guy standing next to me also looking for that, I'd totally say "here, you take 3, I'll take 3" even if I got there first. I don't want to contribute to the incentive to buy up everything you can find just so you can resell it. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but that doesn't mean I have to support it.

We also normally, for years paid around paid $1.65 for a gallon of gas. I think it may be time to accept the facts that:

Obama, Democrats, Anti-Gunners & Recession = higher prices and (for now) less quantities of ammo. The days of $13.00 bricks of .22 LR are gone! If some of these pending senate bills do pass you will be begging your best buddy to sell you one of those $30.00 bricks he stashed away when he could,and if you want to shoot you will pay him dearly for it. Hence the hoarding frenzy.
