    Ruger Precision Rimfire problem

    Hi all,

My safety selector will not move to safe on my new Precision Rimfire. Has anyone else had this happen? Its supposedly has an AR selector. I'm curious on your guys thoughts. I would hate to send the rifle to Ruger if there is an easy fix. NaturalIy I can't break the upper from the lower on the rifle without the safety engaged.

    Thanks.

    John

I don't have that rifle so excuse me if this sounds dumb, but is it cocked? Many guns, AR's included cannot be put on safe if the firing mechanism is not cocked.

It is. Cause you are right I dont believe the safety will move unless it is cocked.

I just checked mine. It does not have to be cocked to put the safety on.

Gotcha thank you. So mine is broke. Just stinks that one can't break the upper from the lower without the safety on

Have you tried using a little bit of force?

A quick search yielded results where people complained about how stiff it was. Some have called Ruger and they said it's a known issue and that it gets easier over time. One even sent theirs back to Ruger to find out that Loctite had leaked into the selector switch.

I'll have to try it when I get home. Thank you. I feel like I am using sufficient force but maybe not.

                What's the verdict?

Safety lever won't move into the safe position. I'm applying as much force as I can.
