    Marlin Papoose 70ss take down

    Hi Calguns,

I'm planning to take my Marlin Papoose 70ss (TD model) to Angeles Shooting Range next week to sight in the scope and have some fun plinking with my 2 sons coming back from AZ...
Anyone has any experiences shooting this outdoor past 100yds? Accuracy? etc...

This'll be first time Ill try out this model, so any inputs are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Calguns!

I have one. It is a neat little rifle for plinking but kind of awkward with no forend.

I have several .22s but never shoot them past 100yds and not past 50yds most of the time. Give it a try and see how you do.

cannot imagine that any 22 LR will do very well at 100 yards with standard ammo. The poor bullet coefficient and starting speed makes it drop like a brick at that range. Supersonic loads break the sound barrier as they slow down and cause turbulence.

Add in the variability of barrel lock up in a takedown rifle and I suspect large groups at that range.

But I do not know as I do not shoot my 22 LR much out past 75 yards and none of mine are takedown models.

So, go and shoot and post some pics of your targets. I look forward to learning what a takedown can do. Marlins are great funs. I have stock Marlin model 60's that are much more accurate than any stock Ruger 10-22 I have shot.

If you can shoot standard and HV ammo to see the difference in POI and size of groupings.

CZlover, I'd be curious for you to post your results. These are new production Papoose's after a long hiatus. So it'll be interesting to see what you find out.

              Ugliest damned rifle ever

I have one(love it). But, the awkward design isn't really appropriate for serious longer range accuracy. It has Marlins' micro groove barrels so the potential is there.
