    Cleaning Anschutz 54MS

    Hello all

Is there a particular way to clean my new to me Anschutz 54MS?

    Thank you in advance.

I have owned and used Anschutz rifles since the 1970's. Get a Dewey coated cleaning rod. To clean an precision target barrel on a .22 rimfire, I push a wet patch through to clean out the unburnt powder and loose carbon. Then I brush it with a brass brush, many times a new barrel will collect lead deposits and the brass brush will remove the lead. Then run a dry patch through until it comes out clean. ONLY PUSH THE PATCH AND BRASS BRUSH TOWARDS THE MUZZLE, DON'T PULL THEM BACK THROUGH THE BARREL.

Follow RandyD's cleaning advice. That video above might be fine for a .308 but definitely not for a precision rimfire. Also, Anschutz and other match rimfires have tight throats and may accumulate lead or wax buildup in that area.

I agree. I overlooked this piece of equipment. Every smallbore shooter uses a guide.

I just use a pull thru with Eezox, and swab it all down with Rem oil.

I have the new 54 action on a Precise stock. So it's not baby'd and still shoots great.

The .22 is, UNLIKE the other centerfire cartridges, very slow and the only thing you really need to be careful of the is crown and chamber.
