    removing GSG 1911 22 thread protector

    I have the CA GSG 1911 22LR. I will be moving to AZ next year and at that time would like to remove the barrel thread protector. GSG says it is welded on. does anyone know how to remove it.

          There are after market barrels you can buy but they cost about 75% of the cost of a new GSG 191-22. Might as well buy a new one and end up with two. Or sell the old one.
