Thinking about buying one,

Any comments good or bad will help me out.

Just want a plinker to shoot at 25 yards,

if possible, get a Walther MP5 instead. I know it is now discontinued and some people are jacking up the price.

But if you just want a reliable plinker without the inflated price, I'd just go for a 10/22. You can always mod it to something else if you want.

Its a good "fun gun" but, you open it up SOOO much zinc and plastic you'd swear it was an air soft gun IIRC it was subcontracted by an airsoft manufacturer. Magazine disconnect is annoying, field stripping is very annoying.

It needs a nice cheap 50$ red dot and quality ammo. subsonic does not run well CCI mni mags do well.

10/22 is a better choice for accuracy and quality but lacks that "fun" plinker feel.

fwiw I have well over 30k rounds on this across multiple brands and this thing is as reliable as my Glock - seriously, it's really good. Is it $800 good that some gougers at gunbroker are currently asking? Heck no, but after a couple of years and many trips to the range, I'm very happy with it.

I only follow the directions from Walther to clean this gun and it has given me no problems. Walther posted the video on youtube

This gun doesn't support subsonic - HV requirement is stamped right on the gun itself and in the manual.

I own and was describing my GSG522, I have never owned/shot the Walther Mp522 you are speaking of.

From what I have read the Walther is the superior copy, I purchased my GSG at a price NiB too good, I couldn't pass on (not to mention saved DROS by double-teaming purchases), all things equal $$$ I probably would have gotten the Walther
