Pump Action: Henry or Remington 572 ?

Money is not a subject. If have a choice between brand new .22LR: Henry Pump Action and Remington 572, then which one you choose ?

Some of you will say BOTH, OK both but tell me which one acquire first ?
Some of you guys will tell me to get the old Remington, sorry I found out that to get the new one is much easier than get an old one .

I had a Remington 572. It was an excellent gun. It handled shorts, longs and long rifle rounds without a single malfunction. I could shoot it almost as fast as a semi-auto. My only criticism is that the barrel is not screwed into the receiver, and that causes a small amount of loss of accuracy.

I've shot both, own the 572 and like it better than the Henry. My 572 is very accurate. I recommend it.

I'd rather buy an old Winchester 1890 or 1906.

I would go with the Remington. I have a Rossi pump .22 and it is my son's favorite hunting .22 He has shot a ton of jack rabbits with it, most head shots with the open sights. Of the two you mentioned, I would prefer the Remington as it is a classy gun, my brother has one and it has always worked perfectly.

He started with a Henry Youth model lever action but now much prefers the Rossi. I have the Henry full-size standard lever action and enjoy it, but the painted receiver gets marked up easily. It works fine as a truck or ATV gun.

Haven't owned the Henry, but the 572 is one of those guns that the more you use it the better it gets.

I also have the Rossi model 62. I had a Henry pump and gave it to my nephew... Haven't shot the Remington, but I much prefer the Rossi over the Henry (both pumps)... Good luck..

If you decide on the Remington 572, get the BDL version, the sights are superior to the ADL sights, and they are worth the extra cost.

Randy D has it right. The BDL does have better sights. Load the 572 up with some .22 shorts and you've got a great plinker. Lots of fun.

Yes, that is the BDL version. You will not regret getting the Remington. I really miss mine. I sold it, and regretted doing so ever since.

                        Henry

I tried both last year and bought the Henry. The pump action was a little stiff at first but loosened up with use. I preferred the octagon barrel and open hammer. Very accurate.

BDL is the better wood, checkering, better sights. Mechanically they are the same think of the ADL as plain Jane.

I have the Henry and it’s a great shooter, never fired a 572, but handled one at a LGS. I preferred the fit and exposed hammer of the Henry.
You can’t go wrong with either though.
