    Advantage arms conversion kit question

Hi guys just used my AA Glock 19 22lr conversion kit. Anyway, after range day I cleaned my barrel and saw this notch (see pic). Is that normal?

I don't have a AA Glock conversion kit but I have owned several .22 kits over the years. On all of the ones I have owned the firing pin was set towards the top of the slide and stuck in the same exact location as your picture. I suspect AA must have cut a channel so that you could dryfire without damaging the barrel face or firing pin. It should not affect a round from igniting.

My AA kit is for a 17 and no such marks on mine.
Dry firing is to be avoided. That's what it will do to it if you do.
Shove a spent piece of brass in the chamber when it's slide removal time.

My AA kit for a 17 does have that relief. The instructions with the kit said it was for dry firing. I still use a drywall anchor for dry firing

My kit is an older model so maybe they fixed it for dry firing. My kit came with a big orange warning card.
Drywall anchor is a good way to go. Cheap insurance.

Like the warning pamphlet said, anything other than Mini-Mags would cause stove piping every mag or so. But after breaking it in, it's far more forgiving. After running through about 300rnds, it'll now even run on Remington Golden Bullets and Winchester Super-X's without problems.

                • The soft pistol case it comes with, isn't designed for a way for you to put a lock the zipper, so its illegal to transport it mated to a Glock receiver because it can't be locked.
                • The extractor can slip out of the slide when field stripped??? If you had to field strip it under stress in the actual FIELD, that's not a good thing.

Just got my conversion kit a couple of weeks ago... (G23) gen 3..has the indentation...but warns against dry firing.. Really like the kit and it will eat most ammo except CCI standard, needs HV ammo..

My story is no different, CCI will run through ok, pretty much anything else and I'm stove pipping. But overall I think a 22 caliber should be part of the regular Glock lineup. My son loves shooting my 17, but at age 10 it's a bit much in the way of recoil. The AA kit takes care of that, PLUS you can spend the day at the range for a couple bucks. :P

I sold mine, but when I had it, it shot all kinds of ammo with no problems.
