I have a CZ 455 in 17HMR. I wouldn't worry about the bolt. I've run several thousand rounds through my rifle. There might be a small bur on the receiver, but don't sweat it. Just shoot it. Check the receiver with a Qtip and when you find it take a needle file... I would just ignore it.Comment

Did you clean it before you started "playing " with it? Might have a burr in the boltway causing that, or a chip of machined metal that did not get flushed out. Check for burrs or loose metal chips and clean it up as required. The bolt can be rubbed with a Scotchbrite pad or some fine sandpaper with oil, do it in the same direction as the machine marks on the bolt. Don't overdo the bolt, just try to minimize the scratches. You will get wear marks as you use it, that's normal.sigpic

When I took my CZ 453 out of the box I was a little disappointed that the bolt felt like it was full of sand, so I cleaned the bolt and reciever with some gun scrubber and smeared some light grease on the bolt and now it’s smooth as silk. I think it was just a little dirty from manufacturing or shippingRightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I love using Mothers, I don't know if it will take the scratches out, but it's worth a try. Certainly will look nice to polish it up when the scratches are gone. Thanks for the input folks. It really is a minor issue isn't it? But its my first CZ rifle and the scratches just bothered enough.
Hey ol' shooter, so Scotchbrite pad will take care of the scratch marks? I am guessing I can also use it inside the boltway?
I have some Mothers mag laying around, that surely would work on the bolt as well I suppose.
Scotchbrite comes in different grits, and they are color coded. I would go with a light grit, grey is equivalent to 4-0 steel wool, white is even finer.
You could just use 4-0 steel wool too, but it's messier than Scotchbrite.
For the boltway, I use fine waterproof sandpaper wrapped around a wooden dowel that is about 3/4 the size if the bolt.
Smooth it out with 4 or 600, finish with 800 grit.
Go slow, it won't take much work to smooth it up. Make sure you clean well after to get rid of any loose grit and metal particles.
Here is a chart showing the different Scotchbrite grit equivalents:
