I just picked up a Glenfield (Marlin) Model 60 fixer upper in trade from a fellow Calgunner and the feed throat is busted. A feed throat is about $20 shipped, plus a new ejector spring for $10-12. There are complete lower assemblies on Ebay for about $40. The feed throat conversion is $35 on Brownells.
My question is if a "new" 60 lower will fit in an "old" (1975) and if there's any benefit to using the "new" style parts. Is the new design superior, or inferior to the old?
Otherwise I'll just replace the feed throat and spring and call it a day. Or pick up an "old" lower and use those parts.
