    Ruger SR-22 rifle mods

Hey guys, I just purchased a ruger SR-22 rifle for shooting in the desert. I can't seem to find many modifications for this gun, I'm looking to add a bipod, red dot and a mag that isn't tucked away inside the gun (but that's 10 round... I did find this one. Promag Archangel 9-22 for Ruger 10/22 .22 LR 10-Round Polymer Magazine) any help on this would be great this is my first newer rifle.

I think anything that fits a Nordic stock will fit it

If you’re OK with the weight, it’s fine. But personally would change out that handguard for something a lot lighter.

if you want a featherweight 22 then find a nice Remington nylon stock 22 rifle. I have one and I believe it holds something like fifteen in the tube and the heaviest thing about it are the rounds. I have a 1983 Ruger 22 rifle in stock configuration that is nice but a lot heavier than the stock nylon Remington.. It is personal choice.

Yeah the weight doesn't really bother me I actually prefer something with a little weight I'm a big dude so it feels good, but I know nothing about adding features. I have to add rails on the bottom to add a bipod right?

You don't have to, bipod can be attached to the sling swivel stud. Like UTG Tactical OP Bipod
On top of your receiver you already have picatiny rail, just clamp rings on it with the scope, like Nikon3-9x or red dot, like Burris FastFire 3.

Do you know where I can find a long magazine that only hold 10 rounds? I want to look of a long mag and I know they make them for .223 but I can't find any for the 10/22

You can also look at tri-mag.

Thanks Adam, all mods are strictly functional. BTW, the see through scope rings are not for iron sight use, but rather to raise the scope up enough for proper eye line when using a straight stock. You will run into the same problem, regardless of optics you choose, if you don't raise the view up about 2 inches above the receiver.

Hey Adam, I forgot to mention that I also had to file away some of the outer stock's oval ejection port at the lower front edge. This was to allow the fired brass to eject cleanly and not jam in the action sometimes. The oval ejection port in the aluminum stock actually covered a little bit of the rectangular inner ejection port of actual 10/22 action in the receiver's original configuration.

I have asked this about 10/22's too. The rifle in you pictures looks nice.

But why not just buy a higher quality rifle instead of getting a rifle that needs most of its parts tossed in the can and replaced?

Good question RNE. I bought it to teach my grandchildren how to shoot and I wanted the adjustable stock to accommodate them. And boy can they shoot it!
