    range report savage 64f

This is my second 64f, i traded the other one to a friend because he had something i wanted. Like this one it ran flawlessly on every type of 22lr i shot in it. I had a 40 dollar BSA scope stored away and used the dovetail already on the rifle. It took maybe 25 shots to zero the scope in at 25 yards. I have no interest in modding my rifle so the lack of trinkets available for it do not matter. What did matter to me is price $149 .
It is one of the best 22s out their to dissemble and clean. I just threw a mix of ammo i had and tried it all without any malfunction. I will not make the mistake i made before this is a keeper.

I have a 64BTV Thumb hole stock from Bass Pro a few years ago.
It like yours is a shooter.
Don't know why people knock them.

One of the few or only 22 budget rifles out their with a machined steel receiver.Nothing worse than getting a 22 that jams a lot . My son in law has the one you can customize [ brand name withheld ] and it jams a lot.
most american 22 rifles have the same design with the recoil spring almost impossible to put in and out without bending the spring. The 64 has a slide out barrel that makes disassembly a snap. This is my 6th savage rifle and everyone has been accurate and reliable. It like me will never win a beauty contest . fine by me.

Not very many people talks about the Savage 64 I guess because of the out dated design but I've put thousands of rounds in the last ten years through my 64 & as long as I clean it every 300 to 400 rounds it run perfect.

I had one. It was pretty reliable, but the trigger pull was horrid. I had too many .22s at one point and got rid of some of them, and the 64 got the axe.

I got lucky i guess, my trigger pull is not a issue.

I picked this up for my 64, helped a lot.

I remember you praising your previous 64F.
Reliability being a plus. And a machined steel receiver on a bargain semi auto .22lr to to boot!

Bought one about 5 years ago and it was a jam-o-matic.
After three trips back to the factory, they finally sent me a new one.
Haven't fired it in years, but last time I did, it shot fine.

Don't really care for their "pot metal" mags.
Some of mine haven't held up very well.
