Sig Sauer Mosquito

There's a clean used one in a shop near me. $200.00.

I did some research and I am tending to let it pass. Multiple reviews say it is very picky about ammo. The slide is metal, but basically, pot metal and it's actually made by Umarex and not Sig.

On the plus side, it's very similar to a P226 (10% smaller). Reviews indicate it fires well if you find the right ammo and use the correct recoil spring (It comes with two)

I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts from you guys.

For $200, I'd take a gamble on it. However, the worst gun I own is a GSG-made SIG Sauer 1911-22, so I wouldn't expect too much. But if the trigger on the Mosquito is better than the one on the 1911-22, I'd trade in a heartbeat.

You are lucky, my worst gun is not ATI GSG 1911-22 at least it takes all kind of ammo I feed it. I had two pistols that worser than GSG 1911-22 .

Back to OP: Save some dimes and get the Buckmark for peace of mind (oops, you already had the Buckmark )

I know someone who has one and has told me the only ammo they have found so far that cycles reliably through theirs are CCI Stingers.

Nope: Don't have the Buckmark. This would be a first gun.

My brother has a Mosquito and it will not reliably fire the first round or two unless you load the mag with only 10 and not 12 rounds ( he lives in Michigan ). This is true of any of the 3 mags he has. Otherwise was as reliable as the average 22 pistol. I think the mags would only hold 10 in Ca anyways. For $200 what do you have to lose ? I agree with the Buckmark being the ultimate in Ca legal 22 pistols. Mine eats any cheap ammo I put in .

I had one and sold it. I would personally pass even at $200, but if you do choose to get it as it is a great deal, I have a suggestion.
I found that if I "pre lubed" my ammo, it ran good with any ammo. By "pre lube" I had to dump a handful of any bulk ammo in a sandwich bag and then spray it with Hornady dry case lube. Yes, it was messy, but mine would run when others would not with any ammo that I had available.

I have one, and I was lucky - mine will shoot anything I put through it, including standard velocity.

The one thing I don't like about it is the short sight radius making it difficult to hit anything past 25 yards - but then I suck shooting pistols and should practice more...

Semi auto 22’s are problematic. Other than a buckmark, none of the are terribly reliable.

Personally I guess I am getting lazier in my old age. Sounds like too much work for me. I'll stick with the buckmarks.

Check out the Ruger SR22. Very reliable but off roster. Eats any ammo you feed it. Occasionally appears in Marketplace. One there now in Livermore/Modesto area which might be too far for you.

Occasionally appears in the marketplace for like $550-$600 which is asinine for that pistol.
