Sig Sauer 1911 22lr conversion fitment

Tried resurrecting an old thread but it wouldn't let me.

Has anyone had issues with fitting the SIG slide on top of a Series 70 1911?

I have a Rock Island and tried fitting the slide on yesterday with no luck. I removed the safety plunger beforehand but I cannot get barrel to move far enough back to line up the hole to put the slide stop back in.

San slide, fit 22 barrel to frame. See if it does the same thing.
