dedicated 22 upper on registered 5.56 lower

if this is in the wrong section please move

i recently purchased a Anderson lower. on the paper work its says caliber: 5.56. The actual lower is marked "multi cal"

My question for you gents is, am ok to put a dedicated 22lr upper on this lower and have a pistol grip, flash hider AND use a standard magazine release?

I know AW laws do not apply to rimfire firearms but I am concerned since the receiver is registered as 5.56.

    Some thoughts-

The laws are written by non gun owners

If you get hooked up, what happens next?
Arrested for Posession of unregistered AW
Make the papers? Make evening news?

Terminated by employer as you miss Work for 3 days and they hear about weapons arrest?

Spend $30k on attorney to get DA to not press charges as the law is horribly written and the CA DOJ won’t clarify.

Apply to new firm for a position and HR screen you out due to residue on the Internet.

    —-
Is it legal, no one can be 100% sure. If another upper was present so you could swap uppers, would it be constructive posession? If it was a 22 conversion bolt and another bolt was present, would it be ok if you had a fin grip?

It sucks as legal gun owners should not have to face what they face in Ca

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I'm sick and tired of looking over my shoulder everyday to see if today I'm a criminal when yesterday I was within the law.
I'm out this fooresaken state asap.

Any other info is greatly appreciated.

        22 upper question

Tagged. Would taking out the buffer and spring, because you do not need it in a blowback 22 system, work for a deicated lower? Registered or unregistered.

The lower I use for my .22LR upper is converted featureless. It is also used on centerfire uppers.

Ditto, I had thought at my age 76 I'd just stick it out but the more I stay here the more I know we should move, just hate to leave kids, grandkids & great grandkids!! But it may happen this summer.
BTW I've had a CMMG 22lr upper on a NFA lower for about 5 years had a Spikes on it before the CMMG.

You own a lower that is legal if configured featureless, fixed or manual operation, OR rimfire.

I don't think it's any legal problem at all.

That's assuming by registered you just mean as a rifle.
If that lower is/was registered as a RAW I think you'd have issues.

correct. not a RAW/ just normal run of the mill rifle registration.

Current AW laws are in reference to centerfire semi automatic rifles. In your scenario, you have a rimfire semi automatic rifle. If it makes you feel better, print the assault weapon regs and keep them with you and in your safe. What you are describing is no different than the tactical 22’s being sold at every gun store in CA, including Big 5, Turner’s, etc. Don’t worry about it OP, you are fine.

Spikes at one time made a lower marked 22 LR in 2009 They don't offer it now.

                      Thanks,
I just wasn't sure since on paper it says 5.56. But I bought is as a stripped lower without a upper, so I should be able to configure it to whatever caliber I desire, then follow regulations accordingly.

I appreciate all the input folks. If the stars align in my favor I will be I a FREE State by 2019. Can't wait to have that monkey off my back.

Hi asked the same questions but was mounting a .17HMR or .17WSM upper, my lower says Multi-Cal, in my thread is was offered that I could use a captive front pivot pin, which was what I decided to do as I wanted a pistol grip and a PRS stock for a varmint gun and no trouble from the Game Warden if checked.

Couple of years go I got spikes striped lower. It's only marked multi for caliber.
Dross shows' 0000 for Caliber. So it can be configured any way I want. Still have not done anything with it.
