This is the set-up I have on my Savage 64. Similar scope mount as yours.
I'm using Warne low profile rings (.250) and a Nikon 4x32.

I installed a kydex cheek riser on mine. I agree, it's baffling why they put a stock with a cheek height for iron sights on this rifle.
