I clean mine by removing the barrel , takes a 7/64 allen wrench.
Do not shoot it without the buffer, it will damage the frame and slide.
As for the sight base, mine goes back on and it has been spot on each time

      ^ What he said.

Call Browning, get a couple buffers since they do wear out and get lost, get a owner's manual too.

      Add to it:
Newer Buckmarks have the barrel retaining screw thread locked in place.
If the screw won't come out, either leave the barrel on or go to youtube for videos on how to get the screw out.

Browning recommends not removing the BBL for cleaning.

My early Buckmark has a slotted head screw and no thread lock so the barrel is easy to remove or change.
Later models went to a socket head screw so customers could more easily be sure they tightened the screw enough.
Later still we have the semi-permanent thread lock and the recommendation to not take the barrel off.
This final change sounds like the result of a frivolous lawsuit by someone who did not properly tighten the barrel screw, maybe got hurt or scared, and of course, it was someone else's (Browning's) fault.

Thanks for the help!! I didn't notice if the buffer was there or not when I disassembled it. I will definitely get a couple of them. Numrich has them for ~$3.50 or so. I will check with Browning and see how much they are from them. Hopefully I didn't do much harm to it. Between my cousin's wife (first time shooter) and her husband, my wife and myself, we sent about 100 rounds down range on Friday.

Thanks for the video pennys dad. That is the way I took it apart to clean it.

The Buckmark from the code was made in 1996 and has the slotted screw holding the barrel. After seeing the video on taking the barrel off, I tried it that way as well.

Deedle- If you don't take the barrel off, do you use a bore snake for the barrel?

Again, Thanks for the replys and help!!

Run a cleaning rod down the barrel and your good to go. I've got more than 5,000 rounds through several of mine with zero problems.

Not to be snarky, but I kind of know that part. But with the rear sight screw post in the way the cleaning rod doesn't work. And I hate cleaning from the muzzle.

Unscrew the two top screws holding the " bridge", without doing anything to the rear sight. The whole rear sight is mounted to the " bridge ".

Disassemble the slide. Order a replacement buffer, the gun needs that.

Remove the barrel from the frame (you already know how to do this) by unscrewing that big screw in the front of the frame recess, then clean the barrel from the breach end not the crown. If that big screw resist turning for any reason, use a hot air blower. I bought mine from Harbor Freight for less than $15.00 which I used on my Buckmark Camper.

I sold that Camper several years ago with deep regrets. I now have on layaway, a Buckmark Standard URX as replacement.

Do you blast some CLP on the other moving parts or...? I just got one of these for Christmas and have only shot about 200 rounds through it.

The other question is regarding the buffer. I didn’t see one when I had the pistol apart. I am not sure if it got lost during my field strip or if it wasn’t there at all. Should I replace it or just let it go without it?
                        I had Buckmark (Contour):
                        - I unscrew the screw next to the rear sight, to remove the top bar/bridge (Numrich called Rear Sight Mounting plate). And leave the rear sight alone on the bar/bridge.
                        - Yes you need the buffer. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/868510B

One more thing, I did not remove the barrel, I leave the barrel on the frame then clean it. To clean the barrel ramp, I used this tool https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . You can use the similar tool but it must be plastic , BTW before I got the tools I used tooth pick

I just got a new Buckmark and the manual that came with it had no disassembly instructions. It was all safety instructions and warnings. It said to lock the slide back to clean the breech face with a brush and the barrel with a rod from the muzzle end. It actually said not to disassemble further and if it needs more cleaning take it to a gunsmith!

Glad there is YouTube, thanks for the video.

Iguanadon not laughing at you, laughing at the manual.

Guys run a snake through it, figure out the best direction and pull that viper through the tube. Buckmarks are like rugers they like to be clean and have ammo feed through them.
We use buckmarks and rugers for our training classes, they see new shooters twice a month and as long as we clean them they shoot 400 rounds a months, accurately.
when they get dirty we disassemble, clean the ramp, snake them, clean the pin and claw, grease them up and get them back in the game.
                            They are solid pistols.

I does not remove the barrel, I leave the barrel on the frame and clean it. but I did the extra step below:

Since you disassemble the recoil spring, it takes less than 10 seconds to take out the firing pin.
                              - There is a pin below the recoil spring, this pin to hold the firing pin.
                              - To remove this pin you do NOT need the punch, you just need the tooth pick to push the pin out.
                              - After the pin is out you can remove the firing pin and the firing pin spring. WHEN REMOVE THE FIRING PIN YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER WHAT SIDE OF THE PISTOL THAT THE TAPE SIDE AND FLAT SIDE OF THE FIRING PIN GOES FOR.
                              - Clean firing pin & spring and also clean the firing pin hole.
                              - I drop a drop of Hopper-9 to the hole , wait for a minute to let Hoppe-9 to absorb the powder residue inside the hole then air blow the hole to remove all the Hoppe-9 solvent.
                              - Apply a thin coat of gun oil (I use Synthetic oil, you can use whatever gun oil you like) to the firing pin & spring, then put the firing pin back to the "recoil spring block" .
                              - REMEMBER when you put the firing pin back to the "block" the tape side and the flat side must be the same as when you took out the firing pin (For my Buckmark, the TAPE SIDE of the firing pin is on the RIGHT side of the pistol. Or the FLAT SIDE is on the LEFT side of the pistol).
