    Remington thunderbolt bulk 500 packs

Is thunderbolt cleaner than in past?

I see many goods reviews at online sites, but recall 5 years ago people trashed it as dirty and duds. So stuck to Blazer.

Has quality increased post 22l drought, with Thunerbolt 22lr 500 Ct?

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling they are doing something different.

I remember when CCI Blazer had two differing styles. A darker waxy one and a lighter version. Different factories or private labeled by Federal.

Years ago almost every review trashed Thunderbolts. And that has changed.

Still dirty. I shoot Buckmarks and my finger that sits along side the glide turns black when I shoot Thunderbolt. Guns really dirty. I shoot mostly CCI Standard velocity, 1070, less than sound barrier so no wobble.

CCI whether blazer or the actual mini mags are the "mostest bestest" most often.

Never bought match ammo. But heard good things about Eley. Or other match grade. Cleaner and better priming technique. Was thinking if a last minute Buds order, what to consider. As saw they take CA orders until 12/29.

I dont own a 22 SA hand gun, but I do have 4 SA rifles, a couple lever guns, revolvers and a bolt action. I dont see a difference between any brand. I just shoot em and clean em every now and then.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Thunderbolts are good to go... Ran a few boxes through a Ruger mkIII, S&W victory, ATI 1911 and Walther P22 without issues... Ran great in my 22lr AR upper as well.

If it were me, I'd buy quality ammo, since you can barely ever find it locally, and probably won't ever find it after January. I have about a 3 to 1 ratio of plinking to target/match ammo. Several cases of the latter. I'm guessing the plinking stuff will still be available, but cost as much as decent target ammo does now, once all of the laws kick in.

Many thanks. I will pick some up. I heard it might be a bit dirtier than others, but recent batches better than 5+ years ago. Researched 22LR when first into firearms about the same time. And many recommend to steer clear unless CCI or match grade other. The video in another thread section shows a bit of dirt but nothing to worry about. I do not mind cleaning if the ammo goes bang.

That is a good ratio. I'll look for the super clean CCI mini mag, or match ammo, for special range days if introducing friends, and more bulk just to have for solo plinking. As who knows how crazy of a hassle it may be to find, let alone pricing.

The semi-recent drought was the first I experienced. When new and starting out, the San Jose Mercury Sunday comics ad Big 5 $18.99 Blazer was run every other week it seemed. They rotated sales ads of bulk pack (blazer, Winchester, and Remington) and I went with Blazer as a lot of praise. Then it disappeared and dried up. And then rumors of $100 a box! Sometimes seen listed in marketplace. It was shocking to see how fast things change

Posters, those who have seen things over the years, wrote about the cycles in the market, Politically fueled.

                    (One issue voter now, btw)

Some of the first firearm related searches I had ever done was for "best 22 bullets" and remember it well as new to everything. learned it's called ammo, not just bullets. Had consistently heard it's about the ammo when having reliable 22 firearms, especially semi auto. Unless bolt action or a single action, get the clean stuff.

Running on and tiny violin playing. Sad to see the regulations kick in right as best availability & prices in recent history. I'm sure similar sentiments from all here.

After 200 rds, they are all dirty regardless of brands.

I shoot all brands and I clean my firearms after shooting so one brand being dirty than the other is a non issue with me.

Thunderbolts have cycled well and are relatively accurate in my experience but it tends to foul my barrels more so than others so I just shoot a bunch of copper plated rounds in between and after to "clean" the bores so to speak.

I guess that you missed the recent thread about testing which ammo was dirtier?

In my experience, Thunderbolts shot just fine in several semi-autos, and I would buy them again if nothing else was available,

                              but.......

When cleaning barrels shot with TBs, I have had thin semi-cylindrical chunks of lead come out. Never had that happen with any other ammo.
