    Ruger LCRx-22 3"

I saw a recent thread on the S&W 317 and it got me thinking about the Ruger I'm looking at buying.

I've held one but haven't shot one yet. So who has one and what do you think of it? Any problems with the DA or SA trigger? Issues with extraction?

I'm just looking at this for a plinker.

    Thanks!

I just picked up this exact gun last week. Its fit and finish is best I've seen on a modern 22lr revolver. Lockup is very tight. It's super light and the grip is perfect. It blows away the Taurus and is better than some smiths I've held. This is one gun I will never sell.

A little more than half the weight (17.3 oz. vs 30 oz.) and almost $200.00 cheaper than the SP101. I have an SP101 and really like it but might have to add the LCRx to the arsenal.

I have one that I bought for a camping or hiking second gun. I think for that purpose it's perfect.

If you are talking about a range plinker, it would be fine, however other guns might be more fun for extended sessions.

            1. DA is on the heavier side. Mine has smoothed out a little, but I only have around 300-400 through it. SA is fine for what I would consider a kit gun. I find it hard to blame only the trigger for my accuracy with it. The only other 22 DA revolver I have is a K22. So the light weight, combined with the shorter sight radius make it far harder to hold steady in my experience.

            2. I have only had issues with extracting Aguila Super Extra HV 40gn round nose solids. But it's not every box, and sometimes right after the cylinder has been cleaned. So for now I'm chalking it up to inconsistent ammo. But when it happens the empties are stuck so hard that it hurts your palm trying to get them out.
If you hit the ejector rod consistently in a swift fashion
all other ammo comes out just fine. If you eject slowly, like I have seen some people do with their thumb the star seems to hang up. Then some empties get partial extraction and stuck under star.
It's 100% for me hitting with my palm.

All this said, I love it. Won't ever sell it. It's a 22, so for me to carry a 22 during hiking, and camping it needs to be really light.

I need to pick one of these up as well. I have had the DA only version (LCR), and the heavy trigger and short barrel made it a poor plinker. Sold it. I had a newer SP101-22lr, but really never warmed up to that one. Sold it. Also had a Taurus 94 w/5" barrel. Although it was very accurate, the heavy HEAVY trigger killed it for me (plus the fact I had to sent it back to Taurus for repair after about 1100 rounds). Sold it. Last one was my pre-lock 317. SA was good, DA was bad, and although it was light as a feather and easy to carry, I never shot it well....I think due to the goofy "V" rear sight and green FO front sight. Sold it. Looking forward to trying the LCRx in 22lr.

Well both my parents and in laws gave me some money for Christmas I went down to Riflegear and jailed a LCR-X 3". I did look at the SP-101, the Bearcat with adjustable sights, and the S&W 63. Surprisingly both of the 63s they had in stock wouldn't stay cocked on single action, double action worked. To me the LCR had the best fit and finish as well as trigger over the other Rugers. Now the interminable 10 day wait.

I wanted too the SW 617 or the GP100 in 22. Saw the LCRx and I was sold. Feels excellent in hand and I can go by with 8 rounds vs 10.

The big difference for me is the weight. 42 oz. for the GP100, 39 oz. for the 617 and only 17.3 oz. for the LCRx.

The 617s that I saw had the barrel canting and not sure I want to spend so much on metal:-)
