    New Sig P228/229 Conversion...wow

I bought one of the Sig .22 conversions when they were on closeout. I figured for $140 shipped I couldn't lose. There wasn't a ton of info out here on them. I hadn't shot my P228 in probably five years, so I figured this might be a way to get it out more.

Boy, was that a good gamble.

Finally got it out to the range today and had no more problems than you'd have with any other .22. It's accurate, the adjustable sights are easy to use, and once you get it dialed in it's a hoot. I like it as much as my Ruger Standard, more than my Buckmark 5.5 field, and a lot more than my Smith 617.

If you bought one of the kits, Gun Mag Warehouse has the 10 round .22 mags for the P228/229 non-rail for sale for $19.

I recently bought a .22 conversion for my P229 and love it. You probably know all this but... A reduced power hammer spring allows me to run standard velocity ammo nicely - mine is a 17 lb. Installing a short reset kit makes rapid fire a blast (pardon the pun) and, depending on your hand size, a short reach trigger #7 can add to the fun. A stainless guide rod adds a little weight to the front for stability and enhances the look at the pointy end. So much fun to shoot.
