    Cz 455 ultra lux cleaning

Just got my cz ultra lux out of jail. So the next day I went to check her out. Now it's supposed to be a 22lr version as stated on barrel. I decided to checkout the trigger pull by inserting a fired shell casing. Trigger pull was ok, but when I went to extract shell it wouldn't extract. So I used a 22 caliber cleaning rod from muzzle end, but it was a tight fit and wouldn't go more then a quarter way down the barrel. I'm off to return it today. Well I went back turners wc to have my rifle inspected. We ran a 22 cal rod down the barrel with no problem. That means my cleaning rods which are coated are to thick for the cz. Checked extraction with dummy round, tested ok. Bought new cleaning rod to resolve problem. I have to say turners was very helpful. Inspected bore looks good. Next stop is the range!

Did you load a 22 from the proper end?

Not saying something's not wrong, but the 17 HMR case diameteer (SAAMI spec) is 0.242" (same as 22 WMR), and the 22 LR case is 0.226", so if it's a 17 HMR chamber, then a 22 LR case would drop in; very loose.

I'd take out the bolt and see if an unfired round will drop into the chamber. Depending on how loose the chamber of the gun that you took the fired case from (sporter cut chamber), the brass may have expanded and not slide into a tighter chamber (match/bolt action).

EDIT: not sure what rod you're using, but my cleaning rod measures ~0.2" (0.19") so would never make it past the muzzle of a 17 caliber bore, let alone a quarter of the way down the bore.

Many use a 17 bore cleaner on their 22 lr CZs including myself due to tight barrels

+1 on 17 rod for CZ. I have a CZ 455 and I had problems cleaning it with a 22 rod. I did some research and consensus was you need to use a 17 cal rod. I have an adapter that allows me to use my 22 cal jag with the 17 cal rod and it works fine.

So it's not a QC issue...you just need to learn how to use it property.

Or maybe the fired brass was expanded in a loose chamber and the CZ is a little tighter?

It's a small round, but the peak pressure is still pretty high. A little less than a 45-70 Government, but 30% higher than a 38 speacial +P round. The brass will definitely rupture if not supported.

22 ammo is not reloaded or am I misunderstanding what’s he’s saying?

I think he's saying the same thing I'd mentioned. The OP chambered a spent brass case in his new CZ. He didn't say what gun he'd fired it in, so if it had a relatively loose chamber, the brass might have expanded enough not to fit easily into the CZ's match/bolt action chamber. That said, I think it's more likely the OP didn't clean his rifle thoroughly enough before messing with it.
