    Marlin 795 Picatinny rail question

I have purchased a Marlin 795 that I am getting ready for a grandson for a future Project Appleseed event. I am looking to put a Picatinny rail where the front sling pin is on the bottom of the fore-end of the stock.

The newer Marlin 795s have a molded sling hole that is elongated and somewhat U-shaped. Does anyone know if a Blackhawk Swivel Stud Picatinny Rail Adapter

(or similar product) will fit? There are no pictures of the bottom of the rail in any of their marketing material and I can't tell if it will fit only round swivel studs or the elongated type that the Marlin 795 has.

Any comments, thoughts or work-arounds on this?

    Thanks...

I don't think so. You're probably best off just drilling and attaching a rail with some light modification. Or, you could try it but you may need to modify either the stud or the rail, if it works at all. The marlin has a molded in which has more of a triangle profile vs a standard sling stud round.

Doubtful. Also the molded "stud" is apparently pretty weak. I agree with thetruecheese drill and add a real stud
