Marlin model 39 A value ?

I recently inherited a much beloved and well used Marlin Model 39 A. It has a capital "D" then 5 number serial number, which I believe puts it in the 1946 production range The bore is nice, the gun fires and functions perfectly and it is very accurate. However it does show it's age and field use on the stock, which one can see in the pictures below. Any thoughts on it's current value? I plan to sell it but can't find a good recent comp so I can fairly price this wonderful firearm.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen around that era and model going between $500 to $700 (they are better condition thought no offense) but you should be able to receive around the low end fairly easily I would think.

$500 give or take. They are heirloom quality but a lot were made so not uncommon at all.

I'd say around 500$ too, I have one, it's a great shooter, super smooth action.

Use it, shoot it, if you are tired with it then make it a safe queen, and the best part is pass it to your heir.

I said: Keep it then pass to your heir, you can make $500, $5K, $500K, $5 Mil..... and but when you sold that rifle it will be gone forever.

And everybody may say: it's just a $500 lever riffle but for lever riffle I prefer Henry and to take down riffle I prefer 10-22 .

Nobody know the true value of that rifle but the guy who passed it to you, you and your heir.
(If I was you, I will hang the riffle on my family room wall).

Dean,I have a 1960 Marlin golden 39A and I've seen them listed in the 700's when very clean and bluing is 90-95%. A gunsmith here locally claimed a pristine example could fetch 1000, but very rare, and most are as others have stated in the 400-500 range. Here are a few pics of mine.
