PRIME .22 Ammo

Has anybody used Prime ammo. I think it's made in Germany. Big 5 has it on clearance for 70.00 a brick. That's pretty expensive .22 ammo and I'm wondering if it is really good or just expensive. Thanks for any info.

From what info I have found , it is made ( or rebranded) RWS.

Compare Prices for both , your decision.

Big 5 has been stuck with that ammo for quite some time---probably over a year or two---they were trying to sell it at around $89 a brick back during the 22 ammo shortage---very few buyers at $89 a brick even then---now they're trying to dump it at $70 a brick when quality 22lr is available for around half that---good luck to them (LOL)...

Considering what RWS can go for, it's not outrageous.

Buy a brick and try it out in your firearms. If it works well and groups well, you have a winner. If not, don't buy any more and use up what you have.

For example, I have one rifle that groups better with wolf than RWS, and I have several rifles that group better with RWS than anything else out there.

If the ammunition has been sitting on Big 5's shelves for a while, talk with the manager about buying the ammunition at a discount. Sometimes the managers will work a deal.

RWS, just like Eley or Lapua, make different levels of rimfire ammo. R50 and R100 are match rounds - usually purchased in samples of different lots, test-fired, and then bought by the case for bench rest shooters (as I am). $70/brick might not be bad if its a target grade round.

My little Marlin will shoot groups of 5 that you can cover with a dime at 75 yds. with the prime .

Yeah , the range I used to shoot at closed and nothing near is/was as good.

Now I am looking forward to escrow closing so I can move to Free America.
