    Tacsol 2211 builds

    Hello all,

Does anyone have a rimfire build using the Tacsol 2211 upper? How do you like it? I personally have had 1911/2011 conversion kits from Marvel, Ciener, and Advantage Arms, and also a Glock AA conversion kit and other than the Glock kit from AA, nothing else worked reliably enough for me to keep. I understand now there are the Nelson kits also, but in the rimfire competition circuit it seems the 2211 kit is garnering some pretty good reviews and strong following (those who do not shoot dedicated .22 pistols to begin with anyway). I've always figured I will just shoot my .22 dedicated pistol (Buck Mark) if I need it, but a reliable and accurate 2011 style rimfire pistol is still high on my list to eventually have.

I don't have any experience with Tacsol kits, but I do have a lot of experience with Nelson conversions and IMHO they are the best. Extremely accurate at 50 yards, eat pretty much any standard velocity ammo, come with three different recoil springs, and both single stack and double stack magazines are available. Top quality workmanship and fantastic customer service.

        I have a tacsol 2211 on a psa frame.
Last round hold open and solid magazines.
        I'd buy another one.
Only have 500 miles on it BUT it's a solid platform so far with no issues.

I don't doubt that the Nelson units are good, but seeing how they're designed by Marvel, and having owned a Marvel, I am inclined to give the Tacsol a try first.

My TacSol 2211 will not reliably hold open after the last shot fired. As a result I just use polymer 22 LR 1911 mags from Kimber.
The unit is otherwise reliable with quality high velocity ammunition. Like CCI mini mags. I have not had any luck with bulk ammo in any 22 conversion kit.
Interestingly my older Ceinier (or however he spells his name) shoots tighter groups than the TacSol unit.
As a result I usually just shot the Ceiner unit. Neither hold open after last shot.
If I had to do it again I would buy a Nelson unit.

Interesting. Conversion kits are almost always ammo sensitive as I've found with my kits before, with the exception of the AA Glock kit...

Any reason why you would choose the Nelson this time around? Or is it just the one you haven't tried?

I have two dedicated Marvel guns and a Nelson on the way that also will have a dedicated frame. The issue is 100 years of everybody and their grandma making 1911 parts and magazines to different specs and designs. It is very difficult to build a gun that runs on a 1911 frame using 1911 conversion magazines. That is why all mine run on 2011 frames and Nelson widebody magazines. Get the recoil spring and mainspring rates correct and they run without issue. My advice is build on a 2011 platform and any of the units will work fine.
