    Don't drop your rifle.

This is what happen when I dropped my brand new Marlin 60SS from the bench in the indoor range's firing boot , the bench is 40" (3'4") high . When it dropped, the muzzle hit the ground first due to its weight, you can see the "ding" on the muzzle and the stock is crack .
The riffle is 12 day old and only =~ 200 rds though it, what a clumsy I am
(Note that the rifle was not load when it dropped)

That crack hurts OP< the barrel notch is just a kiss, it will be ok.

Sorry for the pain in your stomach that you had when picking up the rifle for a review of the damage

I would just glue the stock, it will be plenty strong enough for 22LR until you drop it again. And even then, the repair will probably be stronger than the rest of the stock.

Oh, and now you know why barrel crowns are usually recessed

It'll buff right out? Joking aside that's one of the pluses of stainless steel is that you can usually buff out / remove scratches and other small marks.

I don't know how deep your little ding is so it might not work for you and all the buffing in the world is not going to help that stock.

look on the bright side it's still a shooting rifle and you won't have to go to the hassle of buying another one Drose / forms / etc... you just got to find a new stock you like.

If I were you I would consider getting a hold of Marlin, then being honest about what happened and see if they could send you a replacement stock at a reasonable price.

Will do, I will epoxy the stock, check out its functioning, then shoot the heck out of it. And when I get tired of the band-aid stock I will go to Boydstock's web site and get the new stock.

Concrete. The muzzle hit the ground first.

You probably will not even be able to tell it has been glued after the repair. Just wipe up the excess epoxy after you clamp it. Since the laminate runs in the same direction, it should be practically invisible.

I would use wood glue though if you have it. But epoxy will work too.

Ouch! Looks like it won't hurt the accuracy though.
