    Savage B17 UPDATE!

Has anyone seen a B17 on the shelf in Nor Cal? I'd like to fondle one before I order it...or if some place has the FV in stock, I'd buy it.

    Thanks!

    Update-

Ordered one today. I'll report back when it comes and I have a chance to play with it.

Good to know. I'm leaning toward the B-17FV. It looks like a decent rifle for the pricepoint. I like the rotary mag and new safety over the 93.

Apparently there's a B17G with a really nice looking wood stock, but it's priced significantly higher.

I have the FV on order. The reasons you listed are why I chose it over the 93 or xt-17. For around $300, it seemed like a lot of rifle. That reminds me, I'm gonna have to call the shop tomorrow and bug them.

I visited my LGS today. He didn't have one in stock but checked his supplier who said he had several, so I ordered one.

Be careful with the savage mine is extremely accurate but I'm having trouble with light firing strikes

I took my new B17 FV out today. The bolt is a bit finicky to replace after removal, and a full mag is a tight fit in the well. It takes quite a push to get it to snap in. Other than that, the rifle is solidly built. I poked 50 rounds through it, and after getting it sighted in at 100 yds, we did some squirrel hunting. That Hornady 17gr Vmax is devastating on a ground squirrel. I'm happy with the value of the rifle, overall.
