    Buckmark - which model should i choose

    Thinking about getting a Buckmark 22 LR pistol. The 22s are a cheap and fun alternative to all of the centerfire stuff. Problem is, there are so many versions of the Buckmark out there, I can't decide which one to get. Cost is not a big deal, I want the one that will be the best for target shooting -- either paper tragets at the indoor range, or plinking on an outdoor range.

    So what is the best set-up? There are over 20 models, some called the "URX" and the "UFX" and the "UDX." And Browning describes them as "Practical", "Plus", "Camper", "Standard", "Lite", "Contour", "Challenge" and "Hunter". I probably missed a couple. Frankly it is hard to even tell what are the important differences, other than the finish and grip shape. Is there one version that really has meaningful advantages over the others?

    Are there any functional differences? I mean, isn't the action the same on all of them? Are there any versions with a better trigger than another?

    I am leaning toward this one because it is lightweight, I like the grip shape, and the fiber optic front sight. http://www.browning.com/products/fir...ray-urx-5.html

    Thanks for any recommendations.

      I'm biased, but the Plus UDX stainless was my choice. Looks cool and shoots straight. I think you'll be happy with any of them.

        I just jailed a Practical URX. That grip fits my hand like a glove as the others felt like baby grips, plus I like the round barrel profile over the slab side. I have a TRS-25 on a rail waiting for the Buckmark to come home.

          I guess there 4 basic features to decide on:

          1) grip shape -- the URX is a big molded grip and the UDX is laminate, with the finger grooves actually machined into the front of the frame. Some other models like the practical have an overmolded grip;

          2) fiber optic front sight vs. a simple front post.

          3) the "Lite" models weigh significantly less (28 oz. vs. 34 oz);

          4) the aesthetics, such as of stainless vs. black or other finishes, or the round vs. flat side barrels

          Guess I will focus on which grip fits my hand best and then find one with a fiber optic sight.

            They are excellent guns.
            I just saw an ad, the cheapest one, but it's a good one, $249.99. You can't beat that price. I think it's the UFX.

                i got the camper. It's pretty basic. But there's so much after market support that I can dress it up and trick it out well.

                  I ended up going this route as well. I talked with a lot of people and read a lot on the Rimfire Central forum. The general consensus was that they are all pretty much the same when it came to accuracy out of the box. With the exception of grips pretty much all parts will fit the different models. This means you can accessorize to your hearts content and make it your own.
                  Go with the one that meets your eye and hand.

                    If it's going to be a target queen get blue adj sight grips you like
                    If you plan on knocking around the desert/woods go stainless still go with the adj sights and grips you like.
                    All work the same and all the barrels are made on the same equipment. Their website should tell you if their target guns get special attention.
                    Take a look at a used Ruger too. If you like 1911s you can get their 22/45 for the same grip size angle.
                    S&W has a nice 22 (Model 41?) also but it's pricy as is the Colt Woodsman.

                      I got the Camper SS URX F/O and mounted a TRS-25 red dot.

                        All of the Buckmarks are basically the same pistol inside, just the different grips barrels and sights make for the different model names.

                        I bought the practical URX, and love it due to how amazingly comfortable the grips are, and its ambidextrous so my left hand friends can shoot it at the range. Insanely accurate pistol - these things can shoot tighter groups than any other pistol Ive shot with.

                        After the practical I started drooling over the Lite 7.25" because of the increased velocity, sight distance, and decreased weight. Now Im putting a picatinny rail on that so I can have a reflex sight or scope. They are really nice pistols and will easily grab a rabbit or any other small game without a hitch.
